Brasilia sp. - Horn Park Quarry, Dorset

A beautiful Brasilia sp. from Horn Park Quarry, Dorset that was collected whilst this well-known quarry was still accessible in the 1970s. Prepared by it's discover, David Sole, the 'cat's paw' structure of the chamber wall has been carefully exposed to reveal an intricate pattern; the ammonite itself has been polished to a lovely finish. There are a few small patches of filler that have been sympathetically added to missing areas of the shell.

Age: Middle Jurassic, approximately 167 million years old.

Size of ammonite: Approximately 16 cm.
