A totally unique ammonite assemblage from Horn Park Quarry, Dorset! Preserved quite unexpectedly within the body chamber of this Brasilia is a very fine Graphoceras ammonite, complete with the delicate lappet at the mouth border. Whilst we cannot say for sure, it is most likely that the Graphoceras was washed into the open body chamber by currents on the seafloor, capturing this moment in time for us to enjoy.
Age: Middle Jurassic, approximately 167 million years old.
Location: Horn Park Quarry, Dorset, UK.
Size of ammonites: Brasilia = 13 cm, Graphoceras = 4.5 cm.
