Epophioceras longicella - Charmouth, Dorset

A fine example of Epophioceras longicella - a highly desirable and uncommon ammonite from Charmouth, Dorset. Blocks containing these ammonites have become very hard to find in recent years. Found by David Sole.

Age: Lower Jurassic, approximately 195 million years old.

Location: Charmouth, Dorset, UK.

Size of ammonite: 65 mm.

Size of block: Approximately 11.5 cm x 10.5 cm.
