Promicroceras planicosta - Charmouth, Dorset

A beautiful, toffee-coloured Promicroceras planicosta from Charmouth, Dorset. The specimen is presented on a generous piece of matrix in order to retain the well-preserved branch of fossil wood at the core of this 'Woodstone' nodule. 

Age: Lower Jurassic, approximately 195 million years old.

Location: Charmouth, Dorset, UK.

Size of ammonite: 23 mm.

Size of block: Approximately 19 cm x 20 cm at its largest points.
