Positive and negative Promicroceras planicosta - Charmouth, Dorset

A very neat positive and negative Promicroceras planicosta pair from Charmouth, Dorset exhibiting unusual colours. The rock was carefully split open to reveal the ammonite within, which was subsequently prepared further. Both halves fit back together well, creating quite the surprise when the rock is opened!

Age: Lower Jurassic, approximately 195 million years old.

Location: Charmouth, Dorset, UK.

Size of ammonite: 20 mm. 

Size of block: Approximately 8.5 cm x 5.5 cm.
