Xipheroceras sp. - Charmouth, Dorset

A rich, brown-coloured Xipheroceras sp. from a 'woodstone' nodule at Charmouth, Dorset. This is a beautiful example of a classic ammonite; the utmost care has been taken to present it in an aesthetic surround. Found by David Sole. 

Age: Lower Jurassic, approximately 195 million years old.

Location: Charmouth, Dorset, UK.

Size of ammonite: Approximately 8.8 cm. 

Size of block: Approximately 36.5 cm x 30 cm.
